I am a teacher, a writer, and a coach.
I've enjoyed teaching students in grades K-6 and coaching new teachers and veteran teachers at all grade levels. Before I started teaching, I was a production manager who volunteered in my daughter's classroom. Volunteering led me to my teaching career! I consider myself a life-long learner who constantly seeks new challenges such as earning a Masters degree in Education and joining the Great Valley Writing Project as a Teacher Consultant. This summer I participated in a digital writing camp led by author Kate Messner. The link below will provide more information about this free and valuable experience to develop your own writing skills from authors! It has helped me in other ways too. I have a better understanding of my young writers' struggles and how to read as a writer.
My Journey
|
Eighteen years ago I entered the teaching profession feeling very unprepared to teach writing. Although challenging, the journey to improve as a writing teacher has many rewards such as amazing friendships, discoveries, and lots of professional growth! I attribute the sharpest growth curve in my career to my involvement with the Great Valley Writing Project at CSU Stanislaus. Fostering independent writers in grades K-6 brings me great joy!
